Data We Process
Bookmark Data
When you use the AI categorization feature, bookmark URLs and titles may be sent to our AI service for processing. This data is:
- Processed in real-time and not permanently stored
- Transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
- Used only for generating category suggestions
- Not shared with third parties for marketing purposes
Subscription Information
If you purchase a Pro subscription, we store your subscription status locally in your browser. Your account email is used to verify your subscription.
Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not permanently store your bookmarks on any server
- We do not track your browsing history
- We do not collect personal information beyond what is necessary for payment processing
- We do not use cookies for tracking purposes
- We do not sell or share your data with advertisers

All data transmission to third-party services uses HTTPS encryption. Your bookmark data is only sent when you explicitly use AI-powered features.
Analytics
We collect anonymous usage analytics to understand how BookmarkScrub is used and to improve the product. This includes:
- Feature usage (e.g., scans started, settings changed)
- Error reports (sanitized to remove any personal data)
- Browser and operating system information
- Subscription status
Analytics data is associated with a randomly generated anonymous ID, not your email or any personal identifier. We do not track your browsing activity, bookmark content, or URLs.
You can disable analytics in the extension settings.
Data Storage
All bookmark data, settings, and preferences are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers except when using specific features like AI categorization.
Security Scanning
The real-time security scanning feature operates entirely locally on your device. When you add a new bookmark, the extension analyzes it locally for potential security threats without sending data to external servers.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Export your data at any time via the extension's backup feature
- Delete all extension data by uninstalling the extension or clearing browser data
- Request information about any data we may have associated with your account
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the extension or via the website.
